Hello,

does anybody know the material composition of Scotch Brite which is used for surface finish for steels, cleaning,...?

We have encountered some unexplained dielectric failures of a Scotch Brite polished contact system in vacuum. An untreated system works perfectly. A rough idea would really facilitate a deeper look into the problem. However, it may have nothing to do with it....

Thanks

It's hard to find a direct answer on the 3M site as to the composition of Scotch-Brite pads.

Scotch-Brite pads (at least the original product line, it now include sponges & SS wool) consist of a spun polypropylene fiber with about nine grit variations: none, various sizes of alumina grit, or various sizes of silicon carbide grit.
