Good morning All;

I need some information for manufacturing of "Integral Double Tubesheets" for a Lethal Service BEM Heat Exchanger.
As I know,because of requirements for Lethal Service, Full RT, all figure UW-13.2 as corner welds are prohibited.

Thank you,

narges-p, you are under a misconception. Corner joints are not prohibited in lethal service.

Regards,

Mike

The problem with sloppy work is that the supply FAR EXCEEDS the demand

Hi Mike;

As I know,all corner joints are prohibited because of Full RT Requirement for Lethal service.
It is impossible to do Full RT for corer joints.

Thank you,

narges-p, my mistake, I extend my apologies. These are presumably Cat C joints and must indeed be butt-welded. You would therefore need to provide hubbed tubesheets. A combination of RT and UT [UW-51(a)(4)] and careful sequencing of fabrication could presumably be used to satisfy the full RT requirement.

Regards,

Mike

Hi Mike,

Thank you for your reply so we should do fabrication of tubesheets based on Figure UW-13.3 of ASME sec. VIII.

Sorry, do you have any information regarding the design of Double Tubesheets for BEM shell and tube heat exchanger.

Regards,
Narges,

Narin, yes, hub per the Figure. Possibly both sides of both inner & outer tubesheets, depending on the service. However it seems to me that if both shell & tube sides were in the same lethal service there would be no need for double tubesheets. Also See UW-2(a)(3) & (4).

TEMA has rules applicable to double tubesheet design you may find helpful.

Regards,

Mike
