Is there a way to make a specific part/s transparent in a detail drawing while all other parts still display hidden lines removed?

What I'm doing is doing 3D overall parts layout views of some electronics cabinets. I'd like to make it so you can see through the cabinet (as if it were transparent), but all the parts mounted to the panel inside still to display as hidden lines removed.

You can do this in shaded mode, but the drawings I'm doing need to be in line format, not shaded.

This is a common thing I need to do. 3 of us tried to figure out a way yesterday with no success. Is this impossible, or did we miss something.

Thanks

What I have done in the past is used the Hidden Edges Visible and change the component line font of all items you wish to show for reference to Dashed Thin lines. Then Hide unwanted lines that show because hidden are showing. Not the best answer and there may be a faster better way to do it since I have done it last.

In the drawing view, right-click the part you want to hide and select "COMPONET - SHOW/HIDE - HIDE COMPONET"

Remember...

[navy]your going to have to use your feet."[/navy]

Let me add, if you need to still show an adge or two, use the convert entities command on the edge(s) before hiding the part.

Then adjust the line font of the converted edges as required.

Thanks all, I'll have to experiment some when I have more time.

I'm really not sure we're all talking about the same thing.

I've seen people add files to their posts. How do you do this? I've got a JPG file that'd clearly show what I'm attempting to do, but I see no options for adding it to a post.

HELP?

You need to upload the image to a web server & then paste the URL here. There are many free image hosting sites ... the one I use is

Also, a bit off the subject, if you do a search in Google/images, youe will find tons of pics created in SolidWorks.

I have used alternate position views to accomplish similar tasks.
Try that.
