We are evaluating different 3D CAD/CAM solutions. We are considering an across-the-board UG solution, as well as a hybrid SE/UG CAD/CAM solution. We'd like some feedback from people using a SE/UG CAD/CAM model. Can toolpaths be easily appilied in UG to models imported from SE? We have the suspicion that it's somewhat tough to apply tooling operations to just certain features of Solid-Edge models.

We'd greatly appreciate responses from people with experience using the actual SE/UG combination.

Other systems under consideration are:

Pro-E
Catia
VX

Thanks in advance.

Steve

We have been running an integrated UG/SE system for about 16 months now and have had no major problems. We also have Mechanical Desktop and successfully import models in from that via SE to UG for tool pathing with no major problems.
The types of models we deal with range from simple through to complex surfaced profiles for streamline applications.

I hope this is of some help.

Thanks for the repsonse Ecky ...
