I am looking for specific documentation on temperature and humidity control in a machine shop environment.

We have a large repair/remanufacturing facility that we are assuming a 75 +or- 10 degree F temperature range. However, often the temperature rises to above 95 degrees F during the summer. The current climate control is provided by evaporative coolers. This has been ineffective, and introduces unwanted water vapor into the work space. Management would like to convert to chilled water/refrigerated air system.

What I need to know is if there is anything documented that represents an industry standard for machine shop recommended temperature and humidity operating ranges.
 
Room temperature is usually considered around 68 degree, but I don't believe there is a standard manufacturning temperature. Usually if a part is expected to perform under specific enviornmental conditions they are stated in the contract and inspections usually are conducted at those temperatures.

Fill what's empty. Empty what's full. And scratch where it itches.
 
The tighter the tolerances you are trying to hold, the tighter your environment controls must be. If you are doing lots of parts with tolerances on the order of .0001" you need much tighter environment control than if your typical tolerance is .005".
