Our company has just moved to Catia and I am working on our subsystem design. We use a lot of castings/assemblies that we do a lot of post machining to i.e. using the PART modeling features, not PRODUCT assembly features. How do I go about applying machining features to an assembly, while keeping the original model linked to the casting file? I need separate files because we machine at multiple steps and they are assigned different part numbers at each step. Thanks!

Hi,

1. First create the casing model
2. Create a new part for which u have to do some machining operations.
3. copy and paste the casting part with As Result With Linkoption in edit-paste special menu.
4. continue your machining oprations using boolean operations

use the same procedure for all files which are to be machined
