M36 Tool Steel Wire 1

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I am trying to locate a source for M36 tool steel wire. Ideally it would be in the as drawn condiiton (as hard as possible). The wire needs to be 0.20mm in diameter (~.004"). The typical lengths required would be ~40mm long. The material is sometimes used as the printer wire in dot matrix printheads. I have tried to do an internet search for this material with no success so far. I have also contacted many on shore wire manufacturers wire no success. Has anyone come across this material in this form or have any suggestions for potential sources.

The only other suggestion I can give is to discuss this with the producers of tool steel, and see if they can recommend any wire suppliers. Carpenter, Crucible, Timken Latrobe, Allegheny Ludlum, and A. Finkl are all producers of tool steels. Check their websites for contact information.
