I am an undergrad studying mechanical engineering. I am interested in current controversial or significant issues that engineers are dealing with. I can research details if someone can offer topics.

Thanks, Melissa [sig][/sig]

Peer to peer communications in forums like this can sometimes include legetimate contact with engineers from two countries with "prohibited" relations.

This has many interesting paths to follow, political, technological (black listed countries will be stunningly behind - especially the younger engineers), and there are legitimate war/terrorism issues too. There is a "snow-ball effect" to consider too. Little advances in technologies enable bigger advances eventually.

But few of these enter into mundane yet prohibited contacts between engineers.

Or, how about energy sources? Even electric cars are powered by coal/gas/nukes eventually.

How about a nice "controversial" cool-headed look at the atomic power industry? I think that you may find that from and engineering perspective it looks safe and clean. THAT view should prove to be VERY controversial. Go check out a research reactor at a university. Check up on "health-physics"
