Low Pressure Check Valve, General Design Information

I am designing a part that requires an internal, low pressure check valve (1-2psi), but I have no knowledge of designing check valves. I am looking for general information for designing such a valve. Information that I would like to know is: common practices, materials, check valve design terminology, do's and don'ts, etc. I would prefer a .pdf document, or something that I can access quickly on the internet. Thanks!
