Lots of Blocks, One Big Problem

Hi folks

I have a major issue that I don't seem to be able to crack. CAN U HELP?

I have recently received some converted CAD data (from Microstation to ACAD) that has a number of blocks that are identical in every way, with one exception. Each of the blocks has been assigned its individual name.

For Example a sink might have the block name "673452-6763-Sink-00062a" and a similar block will be named "673453-6763-Sink-00262c" I can filter out the relevant blocks using the common value 6763-Sink which I can then Copy and paste into the required drawing.

My question is this. Is there a method of being able to redefine these blocks to one common block name (Say "Armitage_Sinks_Type_264353") ?

Any and all help/advice will be greatly appreciated

The only thing I can think of is to use the Express Tool "Replace block with another block"

As an alternate suggestion, you would have to exit windows and enter DOS. At the prompt, the REN or RENAME command renames a file or a group of files. The command structure is:

REN [drive][path] filename1 filename2

Tip: Use wildcard symbols ? and * to globially select the files you want to rename. Hope this helps - John
