Does anybody know of a reference I can find on screw fasteners and loosening under vibration? All I have been able to find so far is a website in England,
I am looking for an optimal design process for equipment in aircraft.

Thank you very much.

A good book on bolting is Bickford,J.H. (1981),"An Introduction to the Design and Behavior of Bolted Joints" Marcel Dekker, Inc. ISBN 0-8247-1508-X (453pp). Chapter 16 has 18 pages on vibration loosening. An internet search on "bolt vibration loosening" brought up a few tutorials in the first 30 hits including a NASA report. There are many journal and magazine papers/articles on the subject a number of which I hold and can identify.

Vanstoja,

I could not get the book you are rccommending. What I did find was Handbook of Bolts and Bolted Joints, Bickford and Nassar, Marcel Dekker Books.

This appears to be a successor to what you are recommending, and there is quite an extensive chapter on bolts and vibration.

Thank you very much.
