All,
The company I am with currently is having some major PDM Works problems. We have only been using the product for a year, but have added a large number of parts to our vault in that time. Now, when we try to check somthing into the Vault, it paralyzes the entire 10+ user system. Any help on the fix to the problem, or reccomendations for a good consultant would be great. Thanks in advance.

I would check with you VAR. Our SolidWorks reseller (GEI Technology) has a PDMWorks guru Brian Titus. Then if they don't have anybody I would ask them for a recommendation for consultants.

Best Regards,

Heckler

Do you trust you intuition or go with the flow?

We have been going through our VAR... and we have them stumped. We have never been happy with their support, so now the task of locating a outside source is kicking in. We'll deal with not getting good support from our current VAR later down the road. Right now we need support from someone who can answers our questions. Perhaps I should contact GEI...

Heckler,
What a surprise, our VAR is (GEI Technology). Brian has saved me big time with the SolidWorks PDM problems that I caused. I would say Brian is the best in the business.

I would highly recommend GEI they're the best VAR in Northern California

Thanks ya'll for the replies. And Wow.. that's a good review. I am in the Midwest, do they cover nationwide?

They're in business to support SolidWorks! I could only guess that they would be interested in helping your company if not directly then by recommending a local consultant that has the know how to solve your problem. I've know GEI since I started using SWx in 98. Best of luck

Thanks again for the contact, that's just what I needed! Just found this forum recently, and I think it's gonna prove to be a vaulable resource!

Do you have one large project folder everything is in? PDM works will run faster with multiple projects. Also, check into your server, there are some Server 2003 Microsoft problems of some sort, check the SolidWorks website to read up on it. Hope that helps.

TriMech (my company, but not my division) does PDMWorks implementation. Try the expected web address.

Bradley,

Do you work local Sacramento or Bay Area?

Check with your server as SolidsMaster suggested. There is a patch you need from MS to fix PDMWorks 05. It will be slow until you load the patch.

Thanks again to all. Long story short, we now have a action plan in place. Two of the major problems (we now believe) are too many files in project folders, and not having a dedicated server for the Vault. We are going to be working along them lines first. Another major factor was that we finally got through to our VAR's head that we were very dissatisfied with their lack of support on this. Funny how we became a priority at that point. I'll try to check back in after some things start to progress to let ya'll know what seemed to be the biggest contributing factor to our problems.
