Hi! I am looking for a back issue (1947 Dec 25) of the Engineering News Record magazine (in paper, not digital).
I have tried on the magazine website but they only have issues from 1950 for sale.
Also, I have tried on ebay, amazon, and other websites, but nothing.
I have also asked to some book sellers on the Internet but no luck.
I am not from USA, so I cannot go to street markets or similar.
Does anybody know how can I get it?
Thanks

If you were in the states, I would advise visiting a university with an Engineering Library. Those people are professional pack rats. Might a foreign university have a subscription to ENR?

What article are you looking for? It may be that there is a similar one in print somewhere that members here may know of.

Some time ago, when I tried to get some papers from old ASCE conferences, ASCE directed me to contact Linda Hall Library (
Perhaps they can help you.

As JedClampett mentioned, University's library is a good suggestion as well.

I am looking for the article "Submerged weir discharge studies" by James R. Villemonte (I already have it on .pdf version but I am looking for the original paper version).
I have tried in the Library and in the Engineering Department of the University of Wisconsin (where Villemonte was proffesor) and also in Linda Hall Library (as recomendation of ENR editor) and they only have one item in their library and only offered me a digital copy.
I will try on more Engineering Libraries.
Thank you for your answers!

Ana, why you need the original hard copy? will be okay if you print it out?

I am looking for the original issue of the magazine. I want to give it to somebody as a present. I don't want a print of the pdf file that I could make with my printer.

That's a very king gesture from you...perhaps you can contact the University of Wisconsin to explain why you want this hard copy. Appears that you have a good reason for this and they may give you some directions about how to find a hard copy or at least something nice related to Prof. Villemonte...

Thank you, Okiryu. I contacted with them and told them the reason, and they recommended me to search on ebay and ask other librarians. I will try as suggested by others, i.e., ask in other libraries, but I guess I will have to think in an alternative gift (I need it before December and I have been more than two months searching...).

Perhaps an old engineering book could be an alternative...For example, I work in the geotechnical field and have a hard copy of Chellis's pile book which is a treasure for me...
