Hi, could anybody give me any tips on how I can buy the following two articles?

Broms, BB 1964 "Lateral Resistance of Piles in Cohesive Soils", ASCE Journal of Soil Mechanics and Foundation. Division, Vol. 90, No. SM2

Broms, BB 1964, "Lateral resistance of piles in cohesionless soils", ASCE Journal of Soil Mechanics and Foundation, Vol. 90, SM.3, pp.123-156

I went to ASCE website, but only articles published after 1970 are available.

Your help is greatly appriciated

sundy,

Contact the Linda Hall Library (do an internet search to find it) - they should be able to get you a copy for a nominal fee. If they don't have it, I don't know where you might find it.

First of all, thanks, jdonville.

I made a search in Linda Hall Library database, but did not find the desired articles.

See if you could find it and let me know.

Look for Prasad & Chari Method. Broms use an incorrect idealization of the soil against a lateral load in the top of the pile. In this article you will understand why Broms is incorrect for your problem.

I hope this will help you.

By the way, do you have any papers or web pages where I can find constructive methods for piles or towers of electric transmission lines?

Manuel.
