Lofted cut to a point

I am using soildworks 2010. In trying to model a straight tooth bevel gear using equation driven curves to erect the involute. When I try to use the lofted cut feature I can select my tooth form geometry freely yet when I try to select the point that the loft comes to solidworks refuses to add the point to the profiles list. Does anyone have an idea how I can overcome this? Thank you!
