While I suspect you may have already answered your question I noticed this was still unanswered on the forum. I think "Lock-Bar" pipe was described in the old 3rd edition AWWA Manual M11 (I think version dated ~1989 and probably earlier editions). This type of pipe, reportedly joined in halves with formed edges and h-bars at the two seams, apparently supplanted riveted pipe in many areas in the period from 1905-1930's (when apparently welded constructions became prevalent).
