I am trying to determine the best location for an automatic grease lubrication system on a linear sliding journal bearing (correct name??). It is a large shaft travelling linearly at relatively slow speeds (10-20 ft/min) through a fixed smooth journal/bush. Where is the best location for a grease injection hole? I would assume underneath where the load is carried would be ideal; however, blockage and pressure becomes an issue. Is on top or on the side more appropriate; without a rotating element will grease be entrained under the shaft?
Thanks for the insight.
