I am installing a steel I beam (16x26x23') and it is spanning 22' in ,my garage. The building inspector needs to know the load calculations for this beam how do I find this out?

Kevsdoll,

If you are not qualified and capable of doing those calculations yourself, then you need to pay a professional.

I agree with Austim. Try using the yellow pages to find a licensed Structural Engineer in your area to provide the required calculations.

I agree with the others. Details are required to answer this question, and since none are supplied, it confirms your over your head. Although it can be a rather simple question for someone familiar with your local building code and structural design, it can be quite dangerous for one not familiar to try. Are you a gambler? Would you let nurse or a GP who has a vague idea of how an operation goes to do a complex operation on you? No, I dont think so. Get some real help.
