I've heard a lot about this new liquid piston engine and how it's so much more light weight than conventional engines and is 20 or 30% more efficient.

DEFINITELY not my area of expertise. I read a little bit about it. It sounds very similar conceptually to an inverted Wankel. But, instead of a triangular rotor in an oval chamber, it's a oval rotor in a triangular chamber. They talk about how they prevented a number of the issues that you see with a Wankel.

Not a "solution" to Global Warming. But, it sounds like the kind of step forward that has the potential to help. By increasing the efficiency of some existing systems (especially diesel).
