Liquefaction Design

Does anyone know if the CBC has specific design requirements for a site with a high liquifaction potential? Does it matter if the developement is single family, multi family, or a critical structure?

Most jurisdictions will accept the 1996 NCEER recommended procedures summarized by Youd, 2001. Critical structures may require a higher PGA in the analysis but this will depend on the agency and on your comfort level.

We need more soils info. What kind of SPT values are you getting? GWT depth and PGA value? After that we need to know type of structure before deciding on mitigation. As a general rule if PGA is less than 0.3, your FS against Liquefaction is almost always greater than 1.0 if the GWT is at least -10ft and SPT > 10. In summary, SPT, GWT & PGA are the main influences.
