I have received some line pipes with the notation L290 instead of API 5L X42 that we have ordered. This had caused some confusion during material acceptance with the client but was eventually resolved by way of qualifying the SMYS and chemical composition.
Is this notation adopted industry wide with the 44th edition of API Spec 5L (with ISO 3183 adoption), or are the old notations of A, B, C, X42, etc still in use?
