I am passing iron rich ground water through a tank filled with limestone prior to aerating the ground water. The tank has a pump in it which is fouling every 14-20 days.
The limestone does the job without the need for chemical dosing - yet the method is not very good. Does anybody have any ideas or alternative methods of using limestone to increase the CaCo3 of the water.

Regards

Perhaps dose the water instead ... have a slipstream of raw water dilute water than has gone through the lime? Are you calculating LSI values of water before and after lime? LIS of +2 or more can be expected to cause scale, and LSI will rise with temperature, too (ie: in pump).
Hmmm.. Good luck
