Anyone know what methodology is used to design light duty light poles per AASHTO Sign & Luminary Spec? I don't want to have to buy it... Is it Broms?....if so the charts seem to now work for high eccentricty such as a light duty light pole in concrete pier? I heard that the AASHTO method results in shallower embedement than the formula in the IBC? Anyone know where the IBC formula comes from anyway?

Another good one, FWIW.

Shallow post fdn by ASAE. This is used frequently in Post Frame Construction (wood pole barns) not sure about light poles. But the theory should be equally applicable.
