Dear experts,

We have fabricated a lifting lugs / pad eyes for lifting purpose. The weight of the plate to be lifted is about 2 tons.

The lug will be welded directly to the plate then removed after the plate is located in the correct place.

The question is how many times we can use the lifting lug. In other word how many times the lifting lug can be welded, removed and re-weld.

Is there any standard or code that we can refer to?

There are actually fabricating and erecting lifting devices made for this lifting function without the need for welded lifting lugs. They can be used thousands of times if they are well cared for. Goodle “steel plate lifting devices.”
