Hello all. I am inquiring to see if anyone has any good literature/rules of thumb/design methods for check an angle leg for "tear out" from a lifting cable. I am designing a temporary lifting support frame and I am going to weld some 6" long anles on top of tubes. The vert. leg of the anlges will have a hole in it for the crane hook. Each erection angle is going to see about 3.5 kips. I'm a little unsure how to check the remainder of the angle above the hole for any type of "tear out" or shear failure. Would you just check the tensile stress for that area of plate? Thank you so much in advance for your help.
