I hope someone can help me.
I have a 9.35mm leadscrew with an antiback lash nut. My question is that I am using it to move a medical slide holder and hence need to control the eccentrictity and linearity of the system. I understand that you can have bearings (please can someone explain matched bearings and bearing prload to me) on one or both ends but what is considered the most accurate method of mounting.

I'm assuming you want the nut to traverse the leadscrew.

So for a backlash free leadscrew mount, you must have a lash free thrust bearing. The best, and low friction, way to do this is to put a duplex angular contact ball bearing at one end of the screw and a roller or needle bearing at the other. The duplex ball bearing set will come ready to install with the correct preload manufactured into it. This will give you a properly constrained leadscrew.
