What is needed to take into consideration when sizing cables for lead acid battery? The system is 125VDC,60 cells, 540AH.

1 min A is 770A.
charger rating is 100Adc output.

I have looked at IEEE standards. There is no clear cut of how to come up with the size of the cable. May be I miss something there. if any one can point me to the right direction, that'd be great.

Doesn't this depend somewhat on what you're willing to tolerate for IR drop and heating?

Consider that your current is about 5 times the starting current for jumper cables.

Cable sizing should take into account the voltage drop and then the cable size should be checked for adequate short time ampacity. That's essentially it unless you need to limit dc fault currents using the cable impedance.
