Hi
I am in the process of purchasing a new scantool and the Launch X431 is the one I am contemplating.

Does anyone have any experience - either good or bad or any other comments on this tool or anyother scantool.

Regards

I was wondering if you had purchased the x431 and if so how do you find it. I am looking at purchasing one myself. What have you compared it to and what kind of work do you do..............intend to do with it. I am looking at using one to reset immobiliser's, reprogram keys etc. They claim it will do all this but would be nice to speak to someone who has one.

Thanks for your interest but as yet I have not purchased the x431.

I intend to use it for code extraction, data streaming etc but I think I will wait a bit longer until I have more info from other users.

The price seems very competetive to other units, I'm still not sure it does all that is claimed but time will tell.

Regards.

Well you should log on to forum and read on ...I myself bought this scanner 5 months ago and discovered like many users that many claimed functions are not supported for several car lines contrary to what they say on their web site , the scanner needs a lot more developpement because you get a lot of errors in communication and undefined codes ...you can also check the forum dedicated to Launch scanners...Hope this helps ...

Thanks for the post.
I have as yet not purchased this machine as the information I have has not been too positive. There seems to be a lot more work to be done to make the X431 do what it is supposed to do.

Regards

I have been looking at scan tools too. No purchase
yet but I am seriously considering AutoEnginuity.
See: This does realtime sensor graphing on a laptop
as well.

The more you know, the more you
know you don't know....

If you need a scan tool to work on European and Asian cars you will not be happy with autoinginuity software it is too generic and more related to Big 3 American car : GM Ford and Chrysler...for VW Audi I strongly recommend Vag com scanner software it won't let you down and the price is really affordable... they are going to release BMW software soon ... as far as the after market scanner is concerned my experience in North America is factory scanner if you can afford it ...the after market choice alternative is Launch X431 and Carman scan 2 but be prepared to expect many flaws and bugs in software and do not rely on all claimed functions for each car line that many times are not working, undefined codes ,communication error etc ...check forum and for more details ...
