Hello All

I want to exert thermal simulation of laser micro-cutting of metals using the method of remote laser cutting , in ABAQUS , additionally the Laser producer resource is pulse generator not continuous . I need to know : 1- is it possible and reasonable to model it in ABAQUS ? if so how can I define the pulse laser thermal field ?

2- how is it possible to do this simulation in dynamic way ? and not to simulate only one pulse ?

3- has there been any similar work done before and you know about it ? please share it with me , thank you very much.

This question is probably better posed to those in the Abaqus group instead of the general finite element group.

1. With the correct material properties it sounds like this should be possible. YOu can define the heat flux of the laser across the area of the spot
2. In Abaqus you could use amplitudes to control the heat flow, from 'on' to 'off' in the case of a pulsed laser.
3. Have you done a web search?
