I don't see a cooling tower, so how are the going to condense the steam and get any kind of efficency from the steam tubines. Are they going to use steam compressors?

So...What happened to the Daggett Solar power plant out by Barstow, just a few miles from this new project? I worked on installing solar roof panels for the lab back in 1977!!! I only saw the plant in operation one time! ???
the problem is that after 1 year of operation, the steam tubines have the ware and tear of a 10 year old turbine from starting and stopping. That is why the one near Las Vegas shutdown.
The systems storing heat in salt or oil that can stay running at night time are the most favored at this time.
I received their business plan and spent a bit of time looking it over. One of their principals called this morning, soliciting funds (?) and "explaining the future benefits of the project"...
It all sounds pretty feasible. Efficiency should be high if all goes as they plan. Cheap alternative to hydro or coal IF ...
Gonna need govt intervention in the regulatory part, though!
They could make it easier on themselves, if they'd consider moving the project to private land.

I see a major problem in what we talked about this morning...They have not purchased ANY land nor LEASED any land nor OPTIONED any land in the Mojave!!! His statement was something like this---"Hey, land is cheap. $5000/acre would not bother our projected cost". Hmmmmmmmm! Like I told him, "...wish you the best, but I'm not interested in buying in."
Right, they want CA or the Feds to turn over public land to them, or something like that, in the middle of turtle town and a migratory bird or something or other route, etc. etc. They were asked to purchase 5 times the land they will actually use to dedicate as a wilderness reserve, as supposedly is customary in those circumstances, but they didn't want to do that either. Another probably quite valid critisism is that they'll have to hire workers from so far away (was it 50 one-way miles, or more? Apparently nobody lives out that way go figure) that travel time will be excessive and will wind up consuming quite a bit of gasoline as well as create a considerable amount of automobile pollution in the process. I guess they don't want to buy "Priuii" for the workers either. Hey, I'm just reporting what I remember reading about it, but they do seem to have a few problems to surpass in nailing down the "details".
