Keeping SW personal settings

Hi guys, I have been using SW for sometime now but never took the time to figure out to keep my personal setting (ie...select toolbars, locations and graphical quality setting). Can anyone tell me the quickest way to set this in SW 2004?

Problem with trying to keep your TB's, According to the above FAQ is that if your Registry doesn't accept them you will have to go delete the key out of the registry and redo them anyway. It only has only worked about 50% of the time I have used it. SW doesn't support this so, it is a use at your own risk.

Scott - in your reply aove, there seems to be a line missing. I quote from your reply:

Expand the HKEY_CURRENT_USER registry key
Expand the Software subkey
Expand the Solidworks subkey
Browse down to the User interface subkey and select it.

on the top line menu click on Registry
Click on Export registry file..

I don't see a "top line menu" so I can click on Registry.

Can you clear this up for me? Also - doesn't the "copy options wizard" do this too?

Yeah, exporting the user Interface keys from one computer and importing them into another will sometimes cause the other computer's Solidworks to crash when launching. In this case, delete this key:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Solidworks\SolidWorks 2005\User Interface\General-Summary]

Edit the exported reg file with your user interface settings with notepad and manually remove this key and it's entries before applying to other PCs. This will stop the crashing that occurs.

This FAQ559-655 - was not written by me. It was written by APPENG. You need to tell him this, by repling to him under the FAQ section. "Send a Comment to APPENG About This FAQ"

The line that is missing is just you expanding the Version of SW you are using. EX: "Solidworks 2004".
