Can you tell me what k2 is ?

I came across this in a sentence that said top surfaces generated by k2

k2 surfaces are a kind of gaussian surfaces. from the little that i remember from my college days..k2 gaussian surfaces have something to do with the degree of the equation driving it...maybe a search on the web would help..
