I am considering using a disc of SB271 C95400 M02 that will require a shaft perpendicular to the disc. This is a valve application and will be the poppet or internal closure element. ASME Sec II D listed.

I can cast the entire part. Alternatively I could consider using a barstock piece to join to the disc, but I am not certain what method (if any) would be acceptable.

1. What barstock alloy would be a good match?

2. What would be a proper joining method to achieve a leakproof, full strength joint?

(Disc 8" dia x 1" thick. Shaft 1" dia x 8" long.)

I would cast the shaft/disc component for this valve application.
