As long as the unit delivers required air quantity at the appropriate filtration level it is immaterial whether the cooling comes from a chiller or aDx unit. The other thing you need to be mindful is that a refrigerant leak should not deplete oxygen level in the patient room so the main condensing unit sizing needs to take this into consideration

A VRF ducted fan coil has only a limited static pressure. For a patient recovery room you are looking at two levels of filtration(G4+F7) depending on your local healthcare guidelines. So please check if the VRF FCU has sufficient static pressure to accommodate these filters.
