Is a dedicated high speed anti surge system required for one stage axial compressor?

Hi,

I have one stage axial compressor which currently has an anti surge control valve which is controlled by DCS. This compressor doesn't have dedicated fast acting anti surge system. I am wondering what I should consider if I want to justify installing a new dedicated fast acting anti surge controller for this compressor? Is there any standard or document stating the requirement for fast acting anti surge system?
Is not having dedicated fast acting anti surge system compromising safety?
