Hi all,
I want to cut some sheet metal and install a small 4 inch display. There are also some other electric devises inside the metal box so I need an IPX4 rating for around the display. What is the best and cheapest way to get the cut water proof?
the whole box is made out of metal and has an IPX4 door for accessibility and maintenance.
the display itself is water resistant from the front but doesn't come with any support. it has a touch screen so having a cover box is not possible
I was looking for something like in the picture but with water resistant rating.
I already thought about some epdm structure or some gaskets but not sure if this is the best way and how strong this structure is. the box is standing outside and nobody should be able to steal the display by slightly hitting the surrounding
Any interface that see repeated water collection from, say, dew or rain, needs to be heremetic, even if the rest of the seals are not. Diurnal cycles result in pressure cycles that can "pump" any standing water through a seal interface that is not impermeable to liquid water; I've seen such systems with inches of water collected inside after a few weeks of sitting outside with nightly dew condensing and dripping onto rubber seal interfaces.
TTFN (ta ta for now)
I can do absolutely anything. I'm an expert!
