I'm from outside the state, but have a project in Iowa. Grand Rapids if it matters. Just curious what the typical wood species that would be specified in the area. Hem Fur, Spruce Pine Fur, Douglar Fur, Southern Pine?

For building purposes, here next door in Wisconsin, it all comes from out of state, except for local uses, such as white pine and hardwoods. West coast is the usual source. You might see what lumber Menard's stocks by checking their Internet site.

Are you sure the town is named Grand Rapids? There is no Grand Rapids in my Iowa Gazetteer. There is a Grand Mound , Grand Junction and Cedar Rapids in Iowa. It may be too small for my reference manual. There is a Grand Rapids in Michigan.
