I have a client that is looking for an inverted cone roof on a 30 foot diameter tank. Does API recognize this type of installation? Are there issues with type of installation?

Best Regards,

Assuming you mean a cone down roof where the center is lower than the edge:

API does not recognize this type of roof.

What do you do with water/snow/ice that accumulates?

Should not be too hard to design, look out for additional forces on the upper tank shell.

IFRs is right. API-650 does not recognize this type of roof, but it does not prohibit such a roof. You are on your own with regard to design procedures of the membrane roof and compression ring.

I think although not directly but in a way;

the open top floating roof type tank's roof(external)

has somewhat inverted cone like design

although not with a very sharp slope from side to centre to appear like an inverted cone.

The membrane analysis similar to that in API-620 should be useful for the design.

Thanks so much for all of the insights!
