I recently updated to Autodesk Inventor 2014 from 2012 and I am unable to get my template for my IDW to work as it did in the previous version. I had my dimension style set to three decimal places, the default in my installation is two places. I can change this in the style library each time I start a new idw but I haven't been able to save my changes correctly when I open the template file and change it there. Each time I open a new idw after altering the template I get an error message and the style library defaults are used in place of my altered settings. Any help would be appreciated.

You should NOT have to change anything.
Did you ensure your project file was correct. I believe on install it switches to the "default" project. Switching or loading your company project file should set everything back to how it was.

I didn't change anything on my project file when I had 2012 installed, I used the default project file and altered my IDW template to yield the results I wanted in my dimension styles as well as my text style. What should I have done?

In the project file what is the "Use Style Library" set to ? (mine is set to "Read-Write")
That way I can open my template.. do my changes and then "save to style library"

I never use "default" as this is exactly what happens. You should create a new project to ensure it doesn't get overwritten when you upgrade,etc...

It would also help if you stated what the error said instead of just "I got an error"
