From another website I frequent:

"I have a Watchdog program that barks and stops auto install programs ... This morning an uninvited inspection program tried to install twice and if it were not for Watchdog would have succeeded.

The program: "The AdobeGCClient is a process that runs as part of the Adobe Software "Integrity Service validation testing," [sounds noble] which checks for any tampering with Adobe Software program files or improper or invalid license" by tampering with your computer. To my surprise, it installed with my legally purchased PSE 2018 as part of the package... bet it searches beyond that!!! It uses resources when it periodically does a scan my computer to look for Adobe being tampered with. Does it gather information about other edit programs I use, does it mess with them in a virus like way?"

Ha! My buddy was just telling me about how much he hates Adobe because it installs this extraneous crap that's always using memory, talking to the muthership, and "doing something" even when you haven't used adobe in a week.

I see the same obnoxious behavior with EVERYTHING Autodesk. Bunch of cretins.

Oh, and Mozilla! Now almost every time I use my lab computer (~daily) my antivirus bugs me about Mozilla wanting to change multiple pieces of itself and it wants stuff memory resident even when I'm not using it.

What program are you using that ratted-out Adobe?

It was on a photography web site and the program was "Watchdog", I understand. I know a bit back that Autodesk used a similar program for 'sniffing' out AutoCAD programs... A company in Lindsay, Ontario got beaten up by them... [pipe]
