Hey guys,

I am working on a project with Intermediate Moment frames as the Main lateral force resisting system. Is there any prequalified moment connection that connects to the column web? I did not see any details in AISC Seismic Design Manual. Is this allowed?

There aren't any that I'm aware of. So, it can't be a IMF. An OMF, sure or a R=3, but not an IMF or SMF.

Note: for biaxial columns you can do a built up cruciform shape. I.e. starting with a wide flange column then welding a WT to the web. Then you're connection to the flange of the WT just like you would for a regular strong axis moment connection.
