Hi,
I deal with analysis of the interference joint between shaft and sleeve. I want to simulate the effect of surface roughness and method of assembly (shrink or bush) for the joint load.
This analysis I’d like to divide into two steps:
1. At first step i want to simulate the interference joint between shaft and sleeve.
2. At second step i want to simulate the value of torque moment which can shaft and sleeve interference joint carry. I want to use in this case as the boundary condition the simulation results from first step.
I need help because I have some problems. I simulated process of the interference. I received the results, and now I would like to use this results to second part of the analysis. I don't know how to use obtained results as the boundary condition i the second part of analysis.
How can I use results from first stage of analysis in the second step?
How can I model different surface roughness (now I use connection property)?
Maybe someone will have a different idea how can I simulated this process?

Thanks and let me know if you need any additional information. I appreciate your help.

Andrzej

it sounds like you've got an interference fit bush, modelled in a body. and now you want to apply a torque to the bush and see when the torque causes the bush to rotate (overcome the friction from the interference, yes?

so you need to estimate the normal force on the interface due to the interference (should be able toget that from your model).
then assume a CoF
and so calculate the friction on the interface
and so calculate the torque it can sustain.

another day in paradise, or is paradise one day closer ?
