Sandstone always found interbedded with shale.

Any one of the forum members experianced handling this as a foundation rock?

What are the problems that may occur due to weathering process or due to increase of ground water table?

Could you please post some more information about the rock and the type of structure? I'm not sure we have enough information to give you any kind of usefull answer.

Sounds like a Flysch formation, but there are many variations of it; rock mass properties are markedly anisotropic, usually 2 preferential directions are used in description: parallel to bedding and normal to it.
As Geopavetraffic says, your problems are not clear. That kind of bedrock may be weak, very weak, strong, very strong if massive and well cemented sandstone. Response to groundwater and weathering varies accordingly.
