Insulating API Tank Roof

We are looking for good material and application method for thermal insulation of the roofs of existing heavy oil and tar atmospheric storage tanks. Does anyone have a tried and true approach which would be resistant to ice and snow and rain and wind. Materials should have superior fire resistance. Any experience with spray-ons?

I work in an area in which the oil has a a high pour point due to wax. The oil is consistently kept @ 180 degrees F. The spray on foams are used by some operators and are painted with a rubberlike paint. Some operators use a foam sheet covered with chicken wire and coated with tar. Either method works okay but the sheeting and tar requires maintenance more often to keep it watertight with the insulation batting and tin on the sides.

We insulated one of our Asphalt tanks last year with a system by Insultherm. The system consists of rings welded to the top of the tank, 4" of mineral wool and topped with a seamed aluminum cladding. The system installs quickly and after it is seamed is very strong.

The system is called ToughSeam. Insultherm is out of Texas. We insulated the entire tank in far less time than with conventional tank wrap.
Our plant does not make Asphalt during the long northern winters, but we do opperate in the cold in the spring and fall. We have also used this system on several new waste water tanks which will be used year round.
