Hi all
Is there a code, procedure for welding on an in-service AST diesel oil tank. We are installing fire protection around these tanks in the form of fixed water spray cooling rings & foam top surface discharge. The need for welding is for the brackets that will support the cooling rings.
I heard talk that welding may be permitted on the shell providing that the tank is filled to high level, no welding at roof level and the external welding only below fuel level.
