Can anyone point me to a specification or requirement for temperature and humidity control of inspection specifically for aluminum parts for the aerospace industry. We are primarily non-commercial which means that FAA requirements may not apply. If there are FAA requirements I would definitely be interesting in seeing them, however. For reference, some of our primary customers are Boeing, Raytheon, government and Nordam.

In the past every where I have worked have always had 68° controlled inspection department and some parts had a 24 hour soak time prior to inspection, but I never saw the driving requirements for this.

Dissymmetry,

ANSI Y14.5 (Dimensioning and Tolerancing) which is probably called out on the drawing somewhere is the basis for the requirement. Fundamental Rule (k) states unless otherwise specified, all dimensions are applicable at 68 F.
