I've got a job to replace the lighting system in a Railway Locomotive Inspection Pit and also in a motor vehicle inspection pit in the UK.
The ones in the MV pit will have to be suitable for the potentially explosive atmosphere but the ones in the rail pit won't have to be.
My main problem is finding fittings man enough for the job.
Some of the current ones in the rail pit have come off the wall, basically because a fitter has needed a bit more height and the fitting in the side of the wall was seen as easier to put a foot on than get out and get some steps.
Even though they are hard polycarbonate, there are bits of polycarbonate screwed to the wall with the fittings held up by the cabling.
Any suggested UK suppliers please?
Thanks

If you are looking for tough bulkhead fittings, Petrel and Chalmit are both manufacturer of top quality luminaires. Both make Ex'D' products which are extremely robust. They're expensive though!
