I need some advices on making gage for true position of boss; let say I have a boss diameter 1.00+/.030 and true position is .020(RFS)/A/B/C . I like to make a plug gage with a hole, the plug gage is located on the tooling point fixture; what size of the hole should be so where the boss go into the hole of the plug; the boss location s/b ok. Thank

Gauges are appropriate for positional tolerances when they are at MMC and not RFS. One would have to make a gauge for each increment in size and that is not practical.

thank, Dave; what about if tpos .020(M)/a/b/c; what size of hole s/b/
