Hi,
Usually, to create a new drawing number in Smart team,
1. we are using ‘save management’ from reference drawing.
2. Save that file in new number.
Now, I am facing different problem.
Drawing is already available in smart team in version 2.0. and we have submitted that drawing to the customer. In this stage, customer wants the different configuration of that product. So, we need to entirely change the drawing. But, we need to keep the same drawing number and submit that drawing in version 3.0. We have the reference drawing and model. If it is a new drawing, we will do the save management and register in Smart team as a new file. But, now we need to insert that reference drawing in version 3.0 and submit the drawing. If we freshly start the drawing, it will take two days. But, if we able to insert the reference drawing, it will take only 3 hours. Is there any idea to insert the reference model and drawing in version 3.0. As per our design rules, we should not have the same drawing number two times in smart team which will cause confusion in future. So, we cannot create the new file with same version 2.0 drawing number.
So, I am having one idea as below.
1. Check out the version 2.0 drawing and model.
2. Open the reference drawing and model from different folder.
3. Send to directory > save the reference drawing in the same name of version 2.0 drawing.
4. It will ask ‘ file already available in the same name & replace it or not’
5. Give ‘replace’
6. Open the version 2.0 drawing and clear the links
7. Now, reference drawing available in version 2.0
8. I can easily complete the drawing and checked in as version 3.0 in smart team.
I checked the above in Catia only without connecting the smart team and it is working fine.
As I have no smart team rights to delete the files in case of mistake happened, I unable to check the above procedure by check out the existing drawing.
So, kindly tell me, if this idea will work for the file checked out from smart team or any UUID issue will come.
From forum, I came to know that, by send to directory option, UUID will remain same.
If we do replace file, will the UUID of the version 2.0 target file remain same or will it change to parent reference file UUID.
Kindly give any idea.
