We are a company working towards ISO registration. We are trying to beef up our incoming inspection procedures as a means of conforming to the validation of purchased product requirement, as well as monitoring and measurement of product. While I understand that statistically significant inspection at this juncture in the standard is not specifically required, we are going to be using it for this purpose. A lot of the materials we recieve come in the form of rolls of thin plastic films, and i have found robust inspection to be dificult due to the need to completely break down the pallets and remove samples from the rolls. I am wondering if anyones facility out there inspects roll stock and what procedures they use for their sampling. Keep in mind we are a small company and overly complex testing equipment is not in the budget.

Thank you for any help

Josh

On rolls about the only incoming inspection you can do is end of roll sampling. You can, however, do in process inspection as you use the material, and require the supplier to do in-process inspection during manufacture and certify the results.
